WATCHES * RINGS * PLAQUES

Dear Veteran Competitors,

Last year we were not able to follow through with our yearly gift of the 10 year ring to those of you who had accomplished this milestone with Games.  Unfortunately, the overseas manufacturer went out of business not leaving us enough time to find a replacement company in the US.  When rings were first awarded for participation our cost was $35 each with our last order being $101 each.  That may not sound like a lot of money but it really is when 300 people have one due.  The companies in the US are even more expensive (the rising cost of everything).

The economy has affected everyone even the future of the Police & Fire Games.  The Board of Directors had to make many tough decisions to maintain the integrity of our Games.  First and foremost, continuing to provide excellent venues and experienced officials for your competitions remains our objective.  EVERYTHING has shot up in price except the entry fees.  We are now faced with expenses we’ve never had in the past.  For example, paying for lights at the gymnasiums during the day, security at various events, road closures, custodial personnel, meeting space, etc. have begun to consume our budget.

Until we can become firmly grounded with the current financial situation, we are going to honor your attendance by continuing to keep our records current and offer the watches, rings and plaques at our “cost” to you.  A mailing will be sent out to everyone after this year’s Games offering you the option to purchase those items if you choose to.  We thank you for your patience and understanding but also apologize for being able to “give” these items away as in the past.

Sincerely,

Florida Police & Fire Games
Board of  Directors
